When the West Was Won

When the West Was Won, is an exhibition comprised of paintings and mixed-media works completed by Billings-based artist Gordon McConnell over the past five years. Since the late 1980s, McConnell has created works inspired by Western film frames and informed by his study of the history of the American West and its representations in literature, art, film, and photography.

This exhibition is presented by Paris Gibson Square Museum (The Square) and organized by the Northcutt Steele Gallery at MSU Billings. It is touring the state under the auspices of the Montana Art Gallery Directors Association (MAGDA).
